PEACE OUT.

Word to Catfish: I'm out of here. The new site is located at www.thecomeupbmx.net, it's not RSS yet, but it will be soon. Blogger has been fun but it's time to move on to bigger things. No homo.

JACKASS 2 GAY FEST.

These are the scenes that were deleted from Jackass 2 because they were deemed "too gay". I'm pretty much in agreement, there's only so much I can take and a guy shoving a giant wooden pole through his dick is pretty close to the limit.

Cuban Linx 12/30/07

We The People have more of those super light frames, and apparently they are holding up pretty good. If Chester Blacksmith can ride one, you can too.

Joe Rich and Mike Aitken are now riding for Fox. I thought Joe Rich always rode for Fox.

New Sputnic video of Tony Malouf.

If you ride a Mongoose, you can get a free Mongoose T-shirt. Does anyone else realize the problem with this? NOBODY RIDES A MONGOOSE.

Young Buck interview.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm out.

CHAD AND IAN'S PART FROM SYSTEM.

Love this part... The guy who uploaded this definitely doesn't run www.gangsterbiking.com but it is a good site either way.

UNCUT ROADTRIP.

Uncut Productions did a road trip and made a video of it. It features riding from John Ludwick, some other guys, and an appearance by the legendary Jeff Harrington. Check out his Myspace for some other interesting videos too.

NEW PARIS HILTON ( SORT OF ) PORN.

Don't watch this at school, in front of your mom, or at church. I hope you like looking at some guy's muscular back, because you see more of that than you see of her in this video.

Cuban Linx 01/29/07

Some pictures of Edwin and Corey Martinez are up on Woozy. Keep your eyes peeled for my Edwin interview on the new site.

Speaking of Corey Martinez, he went on a road trip to Atlanta with his boys and their are some pictures up on his blog.

Ryan Mills interview on Vital. I don't know why they have to seperate these things into two parts.

Trailer for the new Empire video which is almost done, I hear.

Catfish interview. Worth a read, but mine blows it out of the water.

Sergio Layos in Israel.

SOME RIPPER FROM MAINE.

This kid, whoever he is, sent me a video of him killing street and park in Maine. I don't know his name, but he is really good.

STATIC NETWORK MIXTAPE

This is the first in a series of videos in the
>Draft Broadcasting
series, this video was mostly filmed through November and December of 2006.

The riding in this is pretty much awesome, it's got footage from Butcher, Chase Dehart and a ton of good kids you've never heard of. The first song hurt my head though, and Papoose rapping about Myspace pretty much ruined my year. Thanks to Jeff Dupaul for the link.

THE ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD.

Shane Rossi from Animal was so excited about this link that he couldn't even wait to get to a computer, he texted me the link. I agree that it's pretty much unbelievably funny, check out the rest of the videos here.

VOLUME COMES CORRECT.

Volume just let me know that they have their new catalog out. It's 72 pages and features a lot of dope photographs, plus interviews with their team. You can download the whole thing by right clicking and saving this link, or you could just check it out at your local bike shop that carries Volume's stuff.

New site up any day now!!!

VAN HOMAN'S SEEK AND DESTROY PART.

This part doesn't get talked about too much anymore, but it was without question one of the wildest sections of all time when it first dropped... until Van blew it out of the water a few years later with his Criminal Mischief part. Regardless, there's stuff in here that nobody would do today. I love this guy! Thanks to LOGAN ARMY BANGOUT from the board for the link.

BONUS: Van's clips from the Fit site 3 weeks ago. It's cool to see how far he's come.

RANDOM SECTIONS.

I found two of the sections from Butcher's Random video magazine series. I never got around to seeing those videos but it's good to see some footage of Butcher, Luc-E and their boys even if these clips are a couple of years old.

INNOCENT BYSTANDER TRAILER

This was posted on The Come Up Board. Check it out and check out their website. Manual to precision rail feeble was gnarly.

IN MY WHITE TEE.

Skinny got a dope video up on Vital
( edited by Glenn PP ) where you can witness him having a good time on the many ledges of southern California. I like Will's beats and everything but I want to see this video remixed to Dem Franchise Boyz' "In My White Tee".

PADDED CELL PREMIERE AND TRAILERS.

The Padded Cell road-trip DVD is dropping any day now. It will be premiered on the 16th at a big jam that they are doing over there in the UK. This video is edited by Joe Cox too, so you know you won't be disappointed. In the mean time check out these 2 trailers for the video, edited by Darren from Manmade ( him and Frank Macchio went on the trip too ):

HEAVY BIKE CREW.

( Table at the Rye Airport shot by Joel Evitts )

Check out this short video of my boy Rory AKA Ro-dizzle doing some sick tricks. His bike weighs more than Dave Young's weighed too I bet.

PARIS HILTON IS CRAZIER THAN WE ALL THOUGHT.

Paris Hilton has a new video online that apparently shows her naked, snorting coke off of some guy's chest and exclaiming "I got fucked in the butt for coke." Also at some point I guess there is some sort of confession that she has herpes, which should be a surprise to like, nobody.

NEW DEMOLITION AD.

Not much to really say about this, Dave Osato is the man. View it full size here.

COALITION FITTEDS.

After the success of Animal's New Era hats, you knew that there had to be more on the way. Coalition have a new one out that looks pretty nice to me which you can buy on their website. Buy it as a form of silent protest against professional baseball and their hats, because really, who would you rather your money go to, Greg Walsh or George Steinbrenner?

E-MAN INTERVIEW.

Volume put up a short interview with E-Man, their LA representer.

BASE BROOKLYN ARE STILL AT IT.

BASE BROOKLYN might not have put out a video in 7 years, but their clothes are still hot as shit ( I like the "Love The Hate" shirt and the brass knuckle one... not to mention the Bad Brains rip off ) and they still have a dope team ( Oba, Tyrone, Will Taubin, Glenn PP and Skinny). They also want you to know that they have a Myspace and you should add them.

ANIMAL NEWS.

Animal has a new update on their site for the first time in a while. In short, they have a ton of new stickers ( you could probably get some if you order some stuff ), Skavenger have plans to get some new shirts out soon, the new Bob Scerbo bars are very light and the infamous Marv is rocking them. I have some good news regarding The Come Up and Animal but I'll wait til the new site goes up to fill you in.

DAN COX PRESENTS...

Dan Cox posted this rad video of him and his boys riding a skatepark on The Come Up Board. A barspin 540 tailtap with no brakes and no hops is definitely no joke.

NEW STANDARD TRAILER.

You can check out the new Standard trailer right now on Vital. Thanks to Drew and Russ ( shown above ) for sending me the link.

OBA STANLEY SIGNS TO SIMPLE BIKES.

( Bigger than it looks ledge hop in Brooklyn shot by Joel Rosario )

The man Oba Stanley from the Bronx is now riding for Simple Bikes who are located out of Denmark. They won't regret picking him up, Oba is one of the nicest kids and a total street demon. Check out an interview that they did with him on their site and check the photos on there too.

Cuban Linx 01/24/07

Bruce Crisman, backwards hop down 13. He is really on some other shit. Straight from the Federal site, so head over there and check out what they've got going on.

Also from the Federal site, check out this short Davey Watson interview. I've got a full length one going up in a few days when the new site goes up that you'll all like.

Crandall sent me this link to Kelly Baker's blog. Definitely an interesting read.

Here's a better quality version of Alistair Whitton's now infamous upside down grind.

Brandy of Moesha fame is a murderer. GRIMEY LIFE.

THE ORIGINAL STREET KILLER.

Warning: If you don't believe in the senseless damaging of personal property, don't watch this. This reminds me of Ralph's original Ride interview, I had no idea what to think of the picture of him feebling that car at the time. AM:PM coming soon. Thanks to Shino for the link.

MADNESS.

Check out Jake Seeley feeble to smithing in his Come Up shirt! That ledge was rough as hell, making the smith part even more impressive. You can buy that shirt yourself by clicking on the Store link to the left. Photo by Scott Marceau.

New Sputnic street session video courtesy of Johnny Devlin himself. For only 4 guys they've got one heck of a team going over there. Check out the Sputnic site by going here.

I NEED A LOGO!

I need a logo. The new site should be up any day now and I need a banner to have at the top of the site. The pixels are 848 width and 80 height. It should say "THE COME UP" in large letters and "the #1 hardcore bmx site on the internet" in smaller letters. If you are looking for imagery to use with it, think piles of money, kilos of cocaine and other cool cliche stuff like that. Any entry which includes kilos of coke has a huge advantage over all other entries.

PRIZE: The person who comes up with the logo I like best will win a Come Up long sleeve in their size, a copy of the Animal road trip DVD and probably an old Fly tire that my friend Georg left here. I need this shit within 2 days, preferably within a couple of hours. HOLLA!

To submit your entry, email it to me at heyshutupman@hotmail.com or Myspace it to www.myspace.com/the_come_up.

BIG JAMES LEAVES PROTOTYPE

The infamous Big James has parted ways with Prototype. You can read about it on the Prototype blog. Maybe someone can fill us in, in the comments about what happened?

STEVE CRANDALL IS A DICK.

I don't have any news for you, but Crandall from FBM sent me this good story about him and Kelly Baker:

One time Kelly and I got drunk in the middle of the day, while christmas shopping, like 9 years ago, and ended up in some random dudes house, who got stoned and passed out, so I pissed in his fridge, and took some apples and started winging them like fast balls across the room into his open fridge, and against the walls and shit. His name was Kenny Cole, He had a mustache, a starter mullet, and a buffalo bills starter jacket.
I am sure I have been repaid through Karma since. I used to be a prick

How about that.

TWO VIDEOS.

Zach sent me 2 videos.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

ALISTAIR WHITTON CLIP.

It's a low quality cell phone clip, but it gives you an idea of what he did. It's totally different than what I thought it was and it's pretty much the craziest thing I've ever seen. Thanks to Dan for the clip, I appreciate it.

RAP BATTLE TURNS UGLY PART 2.

I posted the shorter version of this a while back, but the full length version just showed up online. In my opinion the dude in the green hat was destroying the other dude after watching the whole thing. Here's part two for after you watch the one above.

THE RETURN OF THE BLACKMAN.

First Blackman gets a photo in the new Dig doing a tailwhip on a girl's bike ( shown here ) and now he's featured in Transworld Skateboarding? With Redman sitting on his bike? Blackman ain't dead yet...

Cuban Linx 01/22/07

Check out this wild bar-height rail hop to smith grind courtesy of Skinny. Photo by Matt Brown, spot is somewhere out west.

Conall Keenen shot by Chad Moore from the Profile site. He barspinned out of this. DAMN.

I am definitely feeling the way the new chrome Volume frame looks with those red stickers.

I would kill to hear Nyquist and Colin Mckay explain why Smoker Dave didn't make the top 10 in the Vital contest. Some people just don't get it.

Alistair Whitton apprently did half a backflip, landed in some sort of roller coaster grind and then finished the flip. Someone get that shit on Youtube.

"Wild Winter Mix" that Momentum BMX from The Board sent me.

I cannot believe I used to jerk off to Lil' Kim as a kid.

EVAN BUTTS: PHOTOGRAPHER

My good friend Evan Butts has a new photo site up that you can check out by clicking here. He's really, really good and if you need a low maintenance photographer for your next road trip, holla at him. By the way the photo above is Robbie Capps and he's hopping up the stairs into that smith.

INTERVIEW WITH A BIKE THIEF.

Check it out. I'm not going to get all high and mighty because I've done shit I'm not proud of too but the interview itself is pretty funny. Props to Shane and Ralph at Animal for making shit right for Chester.

NATION BMX ROAD TRIP

Steve-o uploaded the third day of the Nation BMX tour DVD. It's really, really good so if you like it and have 10 bucks to spare, go pick it up on the Nation website.

THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR.

This guy was my hero when I was a kid. It explains so much about how I ended up.

JESSE WHALEY.

I can't do turndowns ( note: I've been informed this is a lookback. Shows what I know. ). But if I could, I assume that they would be very hard to do on a super steep quarter covered in moss. Jesse Whaley is nuts. Check it out full size plus another shot of him on the Mosh site.

BMXINVASION HACKETTSTOWN CONTEST.

THE FUTURE OF THE COME UP.

Big changes are on the way for this site very soon ( possibly as soon as Sunday ). If you like the site now, you will like it a lot more when the new site is up, and if you don't like it now, you are probably in denial, but you will have a harder time hating on it. Get ready.

GREENVILLE NC SCENE REPORT.

Some footage shot at a weekend in Greenville with some of the regulars and just some riders who were in town. Check out Spinner wearing a sweater and how high and smooth that first guy is. Let me know what you think in the comments.

S&M SLAM XLT'S.

I'm stoked on Slam Bars. I always rode pretty low, skinny bars my whole life until a friend recommended last year that riding higher bars might help with my back problems. I can't say for certain but I'm pretty sure that my Sunday bars ( that are Slam rip offs ) have helped me out in that department. It's definitely a different experience throwing the bars with a big pair of Slams on, but it looks better too. Anyway S&M have stepped up and made a much lighter ( a half a pound lighter ) pair with the same measurements. 60 bucks, go buy 'em if you feel like it.

MIKE ARDELEAN BLOG ON THE UNITED SITE.

Mike Aredelean has a new blog on the United site. He also updates Defgrip from time to time, runs the Lavar site and I'm pretty sure updates the Mosh site. Live to blog, blog to live.

STREET BEEF.

I was looking for some riding videos to post from The Come Up Board but before I could check any out, I found this thread with a bunch of videos of people getting their asses beat. That's at least as good as riding. Go sign up and post.

JEREMIAH SMITH VIDEO

Jeremiah Smith is probably one of the best riders ever.

MIKE BRENNAN IS CRAZY.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Check out this tailwhip over T-Money's head. Then go buy the new Dig, it's got a sick interview with Mike, a good interview with Seth Kimbrough and a great NYC article featuring yours truley plus a bunch of other NY heads.

SPINNER'S SIMPLE SESSION SUMMARY

My boy Mike Spinner attended the Simple Session contest in Estonia and came through with a review of the weekend. Check it:

Simple Session 07 This is the First contest of the year and it was an awesome way to start the year off. I would like to say this is my first time out of the country and I could not say how much fun this trip was, I went there with Dave Mirra and MIke Laird (Mike got hurt a week before so he couldn't ride but he was still so stoked to be there). When we got off the plane it was only 4pm but it felt like 11 because of the whole time change so we knew we couldnt go to sleep we just Went out and met up with a bunch of people and that turned into just a party till 3am. The next day was practice it was crazy like 80 people on the course, It was a unique course tho like it had something for everybody quarters, hips and a wedge to wedge box jump but also A whole street side ledges and wedges. That night was a party it ended close to 4am The next day was prelims which I am glad to say I was there to see some amazing riding. That night everybody went out even if you were in finals and had to wake up at a decent time it didnt matter. Okay Finals was pretty crazy and I mean that everybody stepped it up. Heres just a list of things I saw all weekend:

Aaron Ross smith up a ledge to whip and 360 off,Dustin Guenther fuf'ed out of the 10ft quarter on the side of the vert wall, Ronnie Surge inverted 360, Tony Watkinson Invert to tailwhip, Hannu Cools 360 footjams up the step up,Mike Miller just over clicking everything,Danny Hickerson hang nothing across a long ledge and stuck a bottom side icepick that was help for a minute,Corey Martinez big bunnyhop whip gap off of a quarter into a wedge,Dave Osato 540 nosepick a slanted wall, Sebastian Keep Who got 2nd in High air contest And just flowed the whole place, Josh Harrington who won High air and whiped from the 10ft quarter over the mini ramp into a wedge,Alistair Whitton Flowed the whole place 360 downside whipped the box,Alessandro Barbero 3 double whiped the box,ME(Mike Spinner)720d the box 810 the hip and 5 whiped the quarter,Mark Webb Who I can honestly Say can flair ANYTHING !!!!!!!!, Ben Hennon Flip whiped up the step up and Superman to late tailwhiped the box, Chase Hawk 360ed and 180ed Everything With style and Height and alley oop 3d the wall to roll in to fakie first try,Dave Mirra Flipwhiped the box 360 one hand one foot OPPO, Flair turndown and Flair whiped the 10ft quarter like 10 feet high.

The After party was prettty nuts Everybody went out till like 8am This was by far the best trip I have ever been on On and off the bike. Things that made this trip even better CATFISH was there as an announcer, every single girl in Estonia is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of Catfish, he got a tattoo of the Estonian flag. WTF?

DEFGRIP SHIRTS.

Defgrip ( your favorite blogger's favorite blog ) have their second shirt design available and it looks good. I can't front and act like I remember the era of number plates and handstands on the frame, but you gotta respect it. These should be available through Dans, Goods and 3Ride very soon, but you can go buy them now on the Defgrip site by clicking here. Support!

THE EARLY DAYS OF SKAVENGER.

VERY old footage of Vinnie and Osso shredding. Awesome.

Much more recent but still a little dated, this is one of my favorite commercials of all time. I bought an issue of Props solely because this shit was in it back in the day.

RACIST PORN STAR.

If you've ever taken a cab in New York, you might kind of hate muslims too. But somehow coming from a girl who does TRIPLE anal, I am extremely offended. Thanks to Schueler for the link.

CAM'RON RIDING BIKES IN HARLEM

I would put this pretty high on my list of things I never thought I'd ever see. I know the frame is cutting the video off slightly, you can watch it regular right here.

MAX GAERTIG FOOTAGE.

New Max Gaertig footage
is always something to be happy about. This is a bit longer than a similar video of him I posted a while back. Lots of good new shit in there.

PIMPSKE TRAILER.

New Pimpske trailer is up. Check it out by clicking here.

BONUS: Somebody Myspaced me this video of Metal's Chris Wilson snowboarding. I don't think this deserves it's own post, but it sure is weird.

NEW JOSH HATFIELD VIDEO.

16 year old Josh Hatfield from Jersey sent me this video of him. You might recall that he sent me a different video a few months back, well this is some of the new footage he's put together. Let me know what you think in the comments.

RICK MOLITERNO INTERVIEW.

There's an interview with Rick Moliterno up on the Standard site, the most interesting part being where they ask him about why Standard is no longer in the BMX limelight:

There was a time several years ago when we played the ad game and built this huge demand for Standard everything. It made Standard insanely big, which I never really wanted. We had so much demand, that no matter how fast we made things, it wasn’t enough! I figured, why do all this expensive advertising to create demand we can never fill? It wasn’t fun at all. I wasn’t handling the products directly enough and was becoming more of a people manager than a hands-on BMXer making bikes! So, like I tend to do too often, I made the somewhat drastic decision to put the brakes on everything that created the monster.

Interesting. Read the rest of the interview here.

MAT SPARKS VITAL VIDEO.

Some of you have probably noticed that Haro sponsorship content going on over at Vital. Most of you have probably also noticed that it's not even really worth watching most of the videos because most of the entrants are 12 year old tailwhip nerds. Despite also being a tailwhip nerd, Mat Sparks put together an insane part that stands out far above the rest. All that handplant stuff, flairing the Maitland trannies, kid definitely deserves to win this thing. Click here to watch the video.

LR/MEMPHIS MIXTAPE.

A dude sent me this. There are some very good moves in there, but let me know what you think in the comments.

UFD MIXTAPE TRAILER.

Check this short video out and let me know what you think in the comments.

JJ PALMERE VIDEO.

BMXBoard theft. This is super good.

NIGEL INTERVIEW

Am I ODing on the updates today or what? You can't front on some new Nigel footage.

REPSET.NET

From www.repset.net ... That pegless toothpick hanger was ridiculous.

VISCIOUS CRASH.

Michael Kadas tries some deadman shit and breaks his wrist and some ribs.

FREE FRAME ALERT.

We The People are giving away Max Gaertig's old frame. They are going about this in probably the weirdest way ever, basically you just have to answer some totally absurd questions that Rob from WTP dreamed up. Get over there and give it a shot.

EMPIRE WINS.

The votes are in. Empire pretty much dominated this poll. I've only ordered from them once or twice, but my experience was good so I can't complain. Dans and Albes both came in pretty close for second, Dans beating them by 17 votes. Nation got a solid 90 votes which is pretty decent for a small local shop. I really should have included Goods and Staff, but what can you do.

FREE AT LAST.

If you think you're too cool to care, eat a dick. RIP.

Also check out this great video of the fight to get bikes into skateparks in Arizona. If you deal with this kind of shit, do something about it like those kids did.

ANTHONY PEARSON.

This is from the Standard site. Kid is definitely super good.

Cuban Linx 01/15/06

( Frank Juliano shot by Keith from Ride LI. Lots of other good stuff up on there, including a renegade pool story and a ton of good riding shots. )

Allen Cooke is re-creating Colin Winkleman's failed backflip over a moving box jump. That sounded kind of lame to me at first, but he's doing it as a tribute to Colin, so it's actually pretty cool.

The Sunday frame that Hoder, Vinnie, Big James, Blackman and Mike Brennan all rode has finally returned to it's creator.

A bunch of pictures of Steve Debusk and Tony Hamlin from the Nation blog.

EXTREME GROSSNESS.

Zit, cyst, whatever. This is disgusting. One part of me thinks this guy should be put in jail for having such a gross piece of shit growing off of his face, and the other part of me feels really jealous because I just enjoy popping zits. Read the description on Youtube ( right click the video and open it in another window ), I probably would have done the same thing he did.

FROM NOTHING TRAILER.

Copy and paste this: http://media.putfile.com/January-07-Promo ... This looks like a banger.

PS: Go buy the new Lotek video. It is crazy.

ATTILA BIKES TRAILER

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The new Attila Bikes preview is up.
( right click save as ) Their video should be out soon and it features Will Jackson, Ricky Feather, James Cox, Ashley Charles and a bunch of other UK wild men plus some USA guys. Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments.

New Van Homan footage from the Fit site.
Will this guy ever stop being amazing? ( Right click the link and open in another window/tab or the link will open inside the frame )

Cuban Linx 01/11/06

My girl's laptop has a wireless connection, so here's a quick update:

( Note: Right click on these links and choose "Open link in a new window/tab" or else it will open in the frame. )

Chad Shackelford interview.
Where he claims he doesn't ride anymore?

Crandall hit me up to let me know that FBM will be manufacturing Creedence's frames from now on. In case you didn't know, Creedence is a New Hampshire based bike company who sponsor Nutter, Josh Heino, Brian Hunt and is run by Clint Reynolds. I will hopefully get an interview done with Clint real soon for the site.

Crazy video from the Fit site of Josh Betley and some other dudes riding street in Arizona.

Video interview with Harrison from Defgrip that this shitty Mac won't play.

New Hoffman site.

This update would be so much better if I was on my home computer.

This is a legendary debate. I'll post the results soon. Nation probably aren't going to have a fair shot, but I figured I'd give them some love anyway even though they aren't as big as the other 3. VOTE.

BON VOYAGE.

I am going to Tampa for approximately 7 days with my family and my girlfriend. My sister might be bringing her laptop, and if so you might get an update or two out of me, but chances are I'm just going to be hanging out on the beach. I mean, it's supposed to rain most of the time I'm there, but I'm trying to be optimistic. Feel free to email me or Myspace me whatever you want, but it may take me a while to respond, so don't think I hate you or anything.

Anyway, I need a break from blogging so hard. In the mean time check out these sites to keep yourself entertained:

PEACE!

PS: Davey Watson interview when I get back. Or maybe sooner, we'll see.

BAD TIMING "JUST KIDDING" REVIEW.

( Note: This isn't the cover of the DVD or anything, it's just a picture of Aaron Smith from the Bad Timing Myspace. I got a promotional copy of the video to review before it was sent to the printers and I'm not sure what the cover art is going to look like. )

I never saw the first Bad Timing video, all I knew going in to watching the new one, Just Kidding, was that Darryl Tocco, Aaron Smith and a couple of the other dudes in this video are sick from seeing them ride in real life. Oh and that the trailer, which you can watch here, is really good.

Anyway I wasn't let down at all. The video has a really good, fun vibe to it. It's mostly street, but has plenty of high quality park riding too, which never comes off as excessive. The music is also on point, lots of good classic rock and older songs which makes it something you'll want to watch over and over. Here are some of the highlights:

+: The Philly street section was dope. Dirty Sanchez, Joe Mcintire and Pat Loughlin have the most brakeless street type part in the video and it's awesome. You will definitely be stoked on the icepick stall to suicide no hander and one of the longest feeble rail to 180 ever.

+: Darryl Tocco's part is sick. He does the best barspins and does them on and over pretty much everything. He rides with a lot of power and the way he boosts every bunnyhop is just awesome. Also his ender is something I never imagined would happen when I was struggling trying to sprocket stall that fence 5 years ago haha.

+: Chase Dehart footage. Just as good as his Fitlife stuff, that guy is so fun to watch.

+: The NH kids kill. Aaron Smith does one of the wildest gaps ever in Montreal and Lee Hopkins footage is really good even though he steals a bunch of JD Heino's Manchester lines from Turbulence ( LOL ).

+: Josh Frye rules. He has a ton of really good lines on street, tons of pegless grinds and manages to pedal grind up a rail at one point.

+: Geoff Slattery and Randy Brown are both rippers. Geoff does an alley oop 360 transfer that is pretty unbelievable and then goes ahead and 540s the same gap for good measure. Crazy. Randy Brown has really good style, huge pop and a ton of quality clips.

I don't have much negative to say about the video. There's one extended interview with some random drag queen which, while funny, is also just sort of gross and awkward. The first mixed section is sort of boring but it's still not bad. They steal KP's song from the System video but whatever. I'd say this video is worth buying, but if not make sure you find a way to see it at some point either way.

Just Kidding should be out within the next 2 weeks. You will probably be able to buy it direct from them or from one of the mail orders, I'll let you know when it's officially available.

NEW VIDEO

Chris sent me this video of him and Marv ( not Marv from Voices ) shredding some street. Let me know what you think in the comments.

THE ULTIMATE WEDGIE.

I try not to make The Come Up too much of a personal diary. I try and stick to videos, photos, news and reviews, but this is just too much. My roommate stole a bunch of life vests off of a plane ( they are located under the seat, we do this all the time, try it ) and put one down this girl from Finland's underwear while she was sleeping. Then he pulled the chord resulting in the most extreme wedgie ever. She said it really hurt her vagina. Click here to see a full size version.

MIXED REVIEWS

Hoffman don't have a great track record in terms of putting out entertaining videos in recent years. However this one was edited by Nine To Five ( Chad Shackelford's new thing ) and features parts from Brad Simms and Seth Kimbrough, so you have got to give it the benefit of the doubt. Anthony Napolitan does some cool stuff, mainly smithing up a rail to barspin ( note: I have been informed that some other dude actually did this. I don't really care honestly. Continue on. ). Brad Simms has the best section by far, even though it's short and not as overwhelming as his Shook part. Seth's part is good too ( he does an amazing rail to manual to turndown you've got to see ), but it should have been longer and had more time put into it. Based on the amount of quality stuff he puts together in 10 days when he's on Road Fools, it was a little bit disappointing. Also, Seth's ender ( which ends the whole video ) was in the trailer... that's a pretty serious screw up.

I guess that's the overall downfall of this video, it doesn't seem like anybody really killed themselves to make it as good as possible besides a few memorable moments. Another big problem is that there are full sections of Mat Hoffman and Kevin Robinson. I respect both of those guys, but nobody ( NOBODY! ) wants to watch a vert section in 2007. I wish that Rick Thorne still rode for Hoffman, just because watching Rick Thorne try to put together 40 clips is like watching a 50 car pile up in slow motion. The whole "broke off" theme of the video is depressing too. A video is supposed to make you motivated to ride, so much of the video is focused on watching everyone complain about their injuries and jiggle their broken body parts around that it's just a downer. The filming and editing seem pretty good, and I liked some of the songs, but the total package is just lacking. I wouldn't recommend you buy it, but it's worth hitting up Google Video for a half hour, even if it's just to see what Seth and Brad put together.

Trailers for Flipside first started appearing online close to a year ago. There were a lot of delays and problems, all of which are detailed in the video itself, but it ends up as a pretty enjoyable video. The street dudes ( Nigel, Blackman, Ralphie and E-Man ) go to North Carolina to ride with Dave Mirra and friends first which is pretty cool. There's a bunch of stock park riding at Mirra's warehouse, but watching the street dudes interact with Mirra is pretty hilarious and they get some good street riding in out there. Then the pros were supposed to go to NYC to ride street, but nobody ended up going besides Dave Dilleward. I had never really heard of him before but he does some super good stuff there, like a tailwhip to manual to barspin in at the brooklyn banks. To make up for the second half of the video being screwed up, there's a full part of Mike Laird ( which is about as interesting as you'd assume it would be sans him doing 2 rails in a row with a really intense looking goatee ), plus a full part from Nigel that is basically the highlight of the video. He does a ton of wild barspin stuff that I wasn't expecting and finishes the video with a fakie up the banks to double barspin.

This one's a mixed bag too. The good parts are really good, but there aren't really enough good parts. If Ride had sent Glenn out to NYC to film another week's worth of riding it would have been a much more complete video. This isn't a classic by any means but it's more enjoyable than the Hoffman video just because it's funny and got a good vibe. I don't know if I would reccomend you buy it, but it's not a bad choice and I don't regret blowing 20 bucks on it.
