Dale Smitherman sent me this video of his boys riding street in, I think, the UK. Let me know what you think in the comments.

TWO VIDEOS.
This video is of this dude Drew from Davenport, Iowa who I rode with a few months back riding a skatepark for an afternoon. I think he rides for Standard.
This is this dude Shamus, I've posted videos of him before. He's like 16 and super good. I don't know why there is no sound.

THE COME UP IS NOT THE JIMMY FUND.
This kid told me he has cancer and that his dying wish is for me to post him and his friend's video. You be the judge: if you like it, he lives. If you hate it, the cancer will cause him to die by next week.

EDWIN'S PUERTO RICO FOOTAGE.
My money long now; I could make the pope got shot.
Everyone needs a reminder of how good Edwin is once in a while. This is from the bonus section of the Fit Puerto Rico road trip video, which you apparently can't even buy anymore ( or at least not on Dans ). Has anyone done a manual to uprail since ( nevermind to barspin )?

WTP'S NEW LIGHT FRAME
The We The People site claims that they have a frame coming out that is less than 2kg ( which my intense clinical research indicates is approximately 4 pounds ), but stronger than standard frames out right now. It also says that it will be featured on BMX Online any day now. Interesting...

Cuban Linx 12/28/06
Check out Brian from Michigan's crazy ledge manual ( with no brakes ).
Defgrip has the second part of their Top 5 list up. I got to write a piece of it, and about a million other BMX heavyweights wrote stuff too. Also, big thanks to Steve DFTU for shouting me out, luv ya ( no homo ).
The Winnipeg BMX crew, "Rep Set" just put up their first mixtape online. Check out their site, the Google Video link is a couple of posts down.
Check out these new We The People bars when they come out... I love those colors.
Jim Jones may or may not be releasing "A Dip Set Kwanzaa", to follow up on A Dip Set Christmas. This may be a hilarious joke, or it may be real. If it is real, I am beyond words.
In case you didn't notice, Aaron Ross is riding a very oddly colored FBM.

MAYBE NEXT TIME.
10 minutes of shredding ( mostly street ) by Ricky Bates and all his boys. Somewhere in there I saw an icepick to 270 tire grab.
BONUS: Check out the new all street video on Vital featuring Edwin, Rone, Skinny, E-man and Marlon Europe doing possibly the biggest hang five drop off of all time.

GLENN PP INTERVIEW
Glenn and I did a dope interview where he discusses everything from Blackman to Ride magazine. Click on the "Interviews" tab to the left to check it out and make sure to check out two sections from Glenn's 1996 video "NYHC" below.

NEW YORK HARDCORE.
NEW YORK HARDCORE ( NYHC ) was a video shot and edited by Glenn PP Milligan in 1994 and 1995, finally being released in 1996. It featured a lot of rising stars like Robbie Morales, Joe Tiseo and more. I've personally never been able to find a copy, but Glenn was cool enough to upload Robbie's part and a mixed street section which as Glenn put it " Stars CASIO, BX original! UND represent!"

RALPH SINISI AND WILL TAUBIN
Glenn PP hooked me up with Ralph Sinisi and Will Taubin's parts from the infamous BASE Brooklyn video. If you can watch these and tell me that these two dudes aren't two of the best street riders of all time, you are kicked out of BMX. Thanks Glenn!
Glenn PP's interview will be up very soon, as well as a good Q and A with NYC man of mystery, Launchpad.

SYMMETRIC - LINO G'S NEW CLOTHING COMPANY
I've been hearing about this for a while but the website is finally up. Lino G's new clothing company, Symmetric. He's sponsoring a bunch of shredders ( Steve-o, Joof, Villani, Jesse Williams and more ) and there's a really dope video on the main page ( check out Joof's icepick line at the banks and Steve-o's massive chinatown 360 ).
Click here to check out the website. If you own a shop or something, carry this line. And if you're just some kid, buy a shirt when they come out.

BIG JAMES INTERVIEW.
( Pegless smith stall by Matt Brown )
Big James is pretty notorious in the NY area for being one of the craziest riders with the wildest style. He's getting more and more well known as time goes by, and a bunch of clips in the Animal road trip DVD have people talking non-stop. We did a quick interview to make sure people know what he's all about.

V-CLUB OVEREXPOSED REVIEW
I saw the first V-Club video a year or so ago and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed. Aaron Ross and Danny Hickerson's parts were pretty wild but it just kind of felt like more of the same outside of that. They really stepped their game up for their second video though, this thing is way better than I ever would have thought and I can definitely say it's worth your money. Here are some of the things that stood out:
+: STREET. I remember the first V-Club video having a ton of indoor park footage, but this one has to be at least 80 percent street. It's not stock street shit either, loads of variety and wild spots that I've never seen before. The park stuff is all pretty good stuff too.
+: Dylan Smith... I thought that this kid was some tailwhip prodigy but he looks like he's put on like 40 pounds and gotten 10 years older since I last saw footage of him. His part has a ton of variety and creative lines. I don't want to give too much away but he does a curved wallride to alley oop 360 whip on street. He is pretty much unbelivable.
+: Randy Taylor is one of the best bike riders on earth. He does the longest nose wheelies, all kinds of tailwhip and barspin stuff and a perfect 540 down a 6 stair. Again, I really don't even want to give his last trick away... ah nevermind, you'll hear about it sooner or later, he does an ridiculously smooth tailwhip down THIRTEEN stairs. His part alone is worth buying the video for.
+: Really good mix section featuring Aaron Ross ( who does a 360 out of an uprail ) and Carlos Tamez-Mendez, who you've probably never heard of but is a total bad ass. He has a totally different style than everyone else in the video but he kills it in his own way.
+: Great music choices. There's no rap, which will make some of you happy, but all the music is fitting and is well edited.
I could probably list off the good points about every rider's section but it'd be pointless. Just buy it and see what I mean, I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed.
Click here to buy the video from V-Club direct or hit up Empire.

VIDEO O.D.
Remember that crazy Tobias Wicke video I posted the other day? Well it turns out ( thanks to Jochen ) that it was a part of a big German BMX video competition that they do once a year ( I kind of remember it from last year ). Anyways if you ask me, the other videos are just as good as the Tobias one and are def worth checking out. Fourth place really hit me hard, that kid is an animal. Oh and Marcus Wilke got 3rd, I haven't seen any footage from him in a while so that was cool too.
Here's the link to all the videos. Just click on them on the right side.
Here's another crazy video I got sent of a couple of shredders plus a few clips from Corey Martinez at the end. CRAZY!
Jeff Bedard edit. This kid rips...

ANOTHER DEAD SPOT.
Transmission has posted that the Afro Banks in Philly are dead. That's too bad, it sucks to see any spot die. My one and only memory of riding there involves riding around Philly aimlessly with Snotty and Adam Tardif on a trip, running into Rob Tibbs accidentally and him taking us there. I fell trying to icepick them and hurt my ass so bad I had to pull my pants down on a busy street to make sure it was just a bruise.

FOR JOES ABOUT TO COX... WE SALUTE YOU.
The votes are in and the results are clear on my poll to see who your favorite rider on the Sunday team is:
Ian Schwartz was way out in front for the majority of this poll but Joe Cox came from behind big time towards the end to take the win by a pretty wide margin. Vinnie Sammon ( who got my vote ) held down third place and Mike Hoder got fourth. Apparently the kids haven't been reminded how good Jim C is in a while because he got last place despite inventing a lot of the tricks that the kids he sponsors now do all the time. Everyone got a pretty decent chunk of votes each though, so no hard feelings, k?

SUNDAY BIKES POLL
Sunday has a new site up [ http://www.sundaybikes.com ] and it's looking good. There are interviews for all their riders, fresh clips of all of them and a few photos. While looking around I realize that Sunday may just have the best team in BMX. So I figured I'd throw up a poll. The only riders who I think might not get a fair shot are Mike Taylor and Joe Cox just because they're from the UK and not enough Americans know who they are. In that case, hit up Google Video and find Voices, Joe has an amazing part and Mike's clips are some of the best in there. VOTE!
I'll announce the results in a few days.
ALSO, thanks to RIDE ( www.ridebmx.com ) and DEFGRIP ( www.defgrip.com ) for throwing up links to the new site. I appreciate it.

WE'RE NOT WIRTHY
I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Wirth while staying with Spinner in Florida last year. He's a cool dude and a pretty amazing rider, and it looks like he's got a new video in the works. He says that this is mostly scrap footage, but look at that feeble rail to 180 at the begining. LOOK AT THAT! That is probably one of the wildest things I've ever seen. Anyway this is just a trailer, but check it out and let me know what you think in the comments.
BONUS: This is the new Focal Point trailer for their DVD which I reviewed on here a month or two ago. This video is good and still gets spins around my apartment from time to time. Hit up www.focalpointbmx.com to figure out how to order a copy.

GUTTERRATS TRAILER
New Gutterrats trailer. Looks pretty crazy... they say that their full length video is dropping on January 31st and features a ton of unknown talent from Jersey plus some cameos from riders you know and love ( no homo ). Add them on Myspace by copy and pasting: www.myspace.com/gutterratsbmx into your browser. I'd make it a link but I'm on my girlfriend's Mac and that's way too confusing.

NEW SITE IS UP!!!!!
Keith ( Ride LI ) and I have been working on getting an official Come Up site design up for a while now and it's finally done. Besides just looking a lot better, you can now check out the interviews separately via the link on the left, there's a FAQ, and a store for Come Up shirts and DVD pre-orders ( more on that soon ). So for the record you probably have:
www.thecomeupbmx.blogspot.com
bookmarked right now. Change that shit to:
www.thecomeupbmx.net
Let me know if you have any technical difficulties with the new design. I'm headed to Chicago to see my girlfriend for a few days, I'll try and post a bit while I'm gone. PEACE.

Cuban Linx 12/15/06
Smoker Dave is easily one of the best street riders of all time. This video of him is awesome, check out another one of him and his Sombra crew
here.
Ride has a good article up about the ins of outs of getting and being sponsored.
Steve-o has a bike check up on the Nation site. Steve also wants you to know that Chase Dehart, Joof and Rah Rah are all on a Shook trip right now.
Speaking of Nation, it's official: The mail order/store is up for sale. If you've got a little bit of money and want to invest in a solid opportunity, look into it.
Ardelean ( who will have a Come Up interview up in no time ) did a nice piece about riders with particularly good looking bikes on Defgrip. Jim C has no brakes. Actually every bike in that post has no brakes.
You guys are all going to shit your pants at how funny the Catfish interview is when I put it up in a few days.

Cuban Linx 12/14/06
The new Dig is out and it looks like a banger. I got a picture in there ( and the caption even mentions The Come Up ), as did Skinny, Matt Brown and some other NYC kids. Seth K, Chester Blacksmith and Mike Brennan are all street killazzzz too so I'm amped to see it. My boy Chris got his first published photo in this mag too via an Atilla ad, so props to him.
New 20/20 mag is out too. We The People's Clint Millar graces the cover.
Great picture of Marlon from the Animal site.
There's a Spinner interview up on the Mirraco site where he shouts out The Come Up too... the link to The Come Up isn't hotlinked though, which is pretty funny. Maybe because Mirraco is a family bike company and my site is pure evil? It's a good look either way. Thanks Mike.
One more thing about Spinner, his sponsor Team Blowin It have their site up and their stuff available so check that out if you want.
Manmade are no longer being distributed by Last Call. Also, team rider Frank Macchio is plotting a massive rail move that you can all speculate about, check out the third post down.
The photo is of questionable quality, but Jake Seeley's Derek Duster grind is siiiick.
I'm pretty sure Eddie Cleaveland has the best looking bike in BMX. No homo.
Bruce Crisman and KHE are working together on a new freecoaster.
NEW FLASH: Paris Hilton does coke. How could anyone possibly not assume that?
Have you still not signed up for The Come Up Board? Go do it!

ANIMAL ROAD TRIP V2
Still not sure why the original was taken down. Thanks to Bran.
Note: For all you nerds who are getting up in arms about me posting this... Shane said it was cool. If he said it wasn't cool, I wouldn't have posted it since it's the company he works for's property. That being said, do you really think Animal put out an 8 minute promo DVD in 2006 assuming that it wouldn't end up online? Be smart.

FITLIFE IS KING.
The people have spoken and they say that FITLIFE was the video of the year:
This should really come to no suprise to anyone who saw it. Van's section was a monster, Edwin and Tom killed it, Mike Aitken put together what I assume will be the best part of his career and the video as a whole was really enjoyable.
Perhaps more surprisingly, Facad beat out long time favorites Animal and Lotek. You can't really argue with the fact that their team, while small, is one of the best in BMX. This may also have been influenced by the fact that Animal and Lotek dropped closer to the beginning of the year and Fit and Facad came out more recently. I personally voted for Animal and thought that it should have placed higher and the Lotek mixtape still gets viewed a lot too, but they both did pretty well anyway.
All the other videos did pretty awful in comparison. I liked the Shitluck video a lot and felt that Profile and 2Hip had their moments but it's not really fair to compare them to the other ones on the list.
Who's going to hold down the throne next year? Volume? Etnies? One of the many UK videos that are set to come out? Will Animal and Lotek come through with new offerings? We'll see.

FUZZY OFF MONGOOSE.
I didn't see this coming, but I guess it shouldn't really surprise anyone. Legend? Check. Unbelievably good rider? Check. Seems like a cool guy? Check. Valuable as a sponsored pro in 2007? Not really. The way I see it there are 2 options:
In other news, Stephen Murray is off GT. But that's not the real news... the real news is that Stephen Murray was seriously still on GT until just now. Honestly, who knew that outside of his immediate friends and family?

RESULTS
CONTEST IS OVER! The correct answers are:
1) Feeble to hard way 360 on the low to high ledges in Boston.
2) Manual to 180 backwards rail.
3) Hop the fence at the small banks part of the Brooklyn Banks.
Winners: First was Dennis. Second was Jeff Dupaul. And third goes to Greg.
Absolute worst answer award goes to Mike G for guessing that Edwin's last trick was "a barspin". He got the other two wrong too but that's the funniest one.
If you didn't win this and still want to win something, head over to the FBM site and try to win a frame. Also check out Tony Cardona doing a very large no footed can can on street.
BONUS: New Rustic BMX edit:

GET THE NEW ANIMAL VIDEO!
Word to Shane at Animal for hooking me up with some copies of the new Animal road trip DVD. This thing is short but sweet... Paul Horan, Big James and Bob Scerbo all stood out but everyone did some killer shit. Anyway since he sent me 5 copies, I figure I'll give away 3 plus a Come Up shirt in any size besides small to the first 3 people to Myspace me with the correct answers to the following questions:
What was Edwin's last trick in the first Fit video?
What was Brian Wizmerski's last trick in Square One - Wide Awake Nightmare?
What was Grimaldo's last trick in the first Animal video?
First 3 get the DVD and a long sleeve for free. HOLLA!

FRESH OFF THE RUMOR MILL
Cory by Chris Marshall.
Check out this insane video in this kid's "General" section. It won't let me get the embed code, but jesus. So fucking good.
December 13th, Edwin will be all over Fuel TV. Check that out.
Gary Young got a Myspace and wants everyone to add him ( or so the message I just got says. This could be totally fake for all I know. Is this even news? ).
Someone sent me this today from an anonymous email. I guess the implication is that there may be some meat-spinning going on amongst the professional dirt jumping world's top players. Could it be true? I don't know, but if it is I think that these dirt jumpers owe the professional flatland world a big fat "thank you" for opening the doors to being openly gay as hell in BMX.

300TH POST EXTRAVAGANZA
I'll be real, this isn't the 300th post, it's the 301st. But I totally missed out on the 300th so whatever. In honor of this tremendously uninteresting milestone, I bring you... a poll.
If you want to do a write in, go for it in the comments. Note that I excluded Voices which I believe came out in 2005 and that I didn't include any issues of Shook or Props since they are both at least kind of, video magazines. These are all stand alone videos by parts/clothing companies.

Germanator again.
Germanator. Notice he's got zero pegs in all of these. Thanks to Taylor for sending me all these.
Phil Bartlett, photographer unknown.
Charles sent me this video of him and his buddies in Texas killing it. This is a "must watch" if you ask me.
Check out this video of Dan Romeo I found while hunting around Myspace. A lot of park action but he fucking kills it.
