DOING IT.

New issue of DIG. Content rundown on the Fat site.

TWO POUND BIKE FRAME. WHAT THE FUCK.

There's a preview for the new issue of Props on BMXonline.

Ryan Sher is off Kink. This does little to negate the fact that Kink probably has the least interesting team in BMX. Tell Zach that for a small fee I will move to California and turn his company around.

50 cent dissed Puff Daddy last night. Crrrrrrrrrazy.

Greg Walsh sent me a link to his personal site War Of Attrition which is really dope. He's one angry guy. I'm interviewing him for the zine so keep an eye out. And he likes Shere Khan.

New Charlie Crumlish video. Music choice makes me want to hit him with a frying pan.

New BMXFU trailer.

New BK video. I don't know what BK stands for exactly but it doesn't stand for Brooklyn or Burger King.

FIRST COME UP SHIRT

I just purchased a new domain name ( www.thecomeupbmx.net ) and so to celebrate, I'm putting out the first THE COME UP shirt. It's a Blackman signature edition. The only way to get one is to order it from this site ( or the myspace ) and you only have a few days. This is a limited print run ( less than 100 ) so if you want it, act fast.

Here's how to get it if you want it:

1) Paypal. This is the easiest way. My paypal email is heyshutupman@hotmail.com , just send 12 bucks on that thing ( 10 for the shirt, 2 for shipping ).

2) Check. This is allright too, my shipping address is Adam22 / 3149 steinway st / astoria NY 11103.

3) Cash. It's pretty safe to just mail me money, just make sure you put it in between a greeting card or a few pieces of paper so nobody steals it.

Just make sure to specify your size and your address. Get down.

DFTU

The latest DFTU/carhartt jam just went down. There are a bunch of good pictures and some words here. And there are a few different videos of it:

Then the other video is here.

On the same note, I just saw the DFTU mixtape and it was fucking awesome.

And on another similar note I recently interviewed the UK's Marv:

Who held down the last section in Voices, here's a preview of that ( it's a preview, 2 questions is not a full interview, keep hating BMXBoard you fucks ):

What's the story with those 8 piece bars you ride for most of your section in Voices? Why did you seeminly stop riding them towards the end of your section?

They are 4 piece and they were made by Powerlite. When I was young there was a group of riders known around London called Bicycle Union and they all had the same bike set up, 2 pegs, back brake, Powerlites and would always ride mini ramp. Everyone I grew up with thought they were the coolest so we all had a pair of powerlites at some point. They might look like shit but they feel amazing loads of up and back sweep. Pwerlite made two sorts though. One set came on their complete bikes which always broke and some super tuff ones they sold separately. I had the ones which broke and mine broke half way through filming. I’m over them now, it was the end of an era.

What's the street riding like where you live? It seems like you have a lot of crazy spots out there, but a lot of them seem pretty harsh and hard to ride too.

Yeah there is a lot of street but none of it is perfect. We would watch American videos and be gutted cos all the spots look amazing, all the spots in this country always have something wrong with them. Either the run up or run out is shit or where you take off is a down slope. But you get used to it. It makes you look hard as fuck cos they look like shit too.

If you remember correctly, his part in Voices was unbelievable and his clips in the DFTU mixtape are even better ( smith to barspin on a high ass 6 stair ledge ). I'm going to try to interview one or two of the other dudes from the video too before the zine is done.

Keep your eyes open for the new, exclusive Blackman signature shirt.

Straight out the frying pan...

New Gonz photo from the Ride site. They have a great interview with Shad Johnson up too.

Anthony Napolitan. I guess even back then you could call me.......

There are a bunch of new pictures of Aaron Ross on the FBM site. And if you're into this sort of thing, he has a bike check up on the Odyssey site.

Nigel broke his wrist.

Unlike the Solid crew, I haven't rode a pool in years :(.

I have strep throat, I want to die and I'm still updating.

Travis Splain by ATI ( I don't know his real name so I gotta call him by his myspace name ).

Good street shit from my buddy Jimmy.

The MassBMX site is really good and run by a few friends of mine. They have footage up from the Brace Jam that's pretty rad. RO DIZZLE.

Apparently Tree's new pegs are going to be ridiculously light and still grind decent.

Kevin Jones is back on Hoffman.

Little Devil Video

There's a sick new Little Devil video up on their homepage featuring Rob Wise and Randy Brown. The last few tricks are mind blowing.

Sunday, August 27, 2006

I heard that Marlon Europe who was previously riding for Bulldog Bikes is now riding for 2-Hip. I also heard he and Steve-o might be getting some signature parts through 2-Hip.

I guess Seth Kimbrough is riding for the Shadow Conspiracy.

Rick Thorne had one of his friends call up Jimmy Levan and threaten him all because of a Sean Burns ad that the biker in black found offensive. I haven't seen said ad, but I'm willing to bet that it's LOL.

Bottom right hand corner, there's a link to Scotty Cranmer's winning X-Gaymes run. I honestly can't even comprehend how big that course is.

Really good park footage from Jared Chilko.

Nowhere Fast

*EDIT* Video was taken down at the request of Dave Parrick. I guess he was real nice about it, and you can't blame him since he's probably going to re-issue it soon.

------------------------------------------

If you're old school, you've allready watched it a million times, if you're new, you need to know your roots. Ralph, Dave Young, Josh Heino and everyone else killed themselves for this video way back in 1999 or so.

A few things.

There are a ton of really good street photos ( and trails, and park ) on the Random BMX website, this one of "Ted" being one of them.

Check out this new webzine, Go Back To Bed. It's 14 pages and has a lot of good photographs and interesting articles about riding.

I have always wanted to see Ryan Corrigan's dick.

Brian Kachinsky interview.

New photo of The Gonz.

Someone myspaced me and told me to post a Cro Mags video. I don't want to let him down, so here ya go.

Edit: A few afterthoughts.

What the fuck is going on with Ryan's pubic hair?

And also on the RandomBMX site I found this huge assortment of photos of various street spots, some of them relatively mundane and some of them totally ridiculous. Definetly worth looking at.

" I'M POOR, NIGGA "

My buddy Chris ( who took the above photo ) from England visited NYC today and hung out with me at the Brooklyn Banks. He took photos of Nigel, Blackman and a few other locals, all of which I bet will come out dope. Check his site out here and I'll be sure to let you know when his NYC pictures are online.

There's some new footage of Cory Martinez on the Orchid site. That first wallride looks pretty much impossible.

New Orchid Brian Wizmerski ad. Goddamn.

Vinnie posted on BMXBoard saying that there is a Joe Tiseo jam on September 9th at the Brooklyn Banks. I'll be there. Here's the flyer.

Jeff Dupaul took this photo of this kinked rail by Brent Wargo. It was on the Ride site but they said someone else took it.

I honestly think bike checks are the gayest thing on earth but I really like Larry Alvarado so his interested me.

Lotek's fall line is up and it's way better than everyone else in BMX's as usual.

This video
is pretty dope. Mostly park but he's really good. I want to know if his last name is really Hardway.

I'm looking for anyone who has a collection of VHS BMX videos who wouldn't mind uploading a few crucial parts for this site... if you are able to do that I'd be super appreciative, myspace me or email me: heyshutupman@hotmail.com

GRUNDLE.

That is a serious fucking smith grind!

Awesome trip video from Ohio.

This site is sort of similar to mine. I really like it and I hope that more BMX kids start doing similar shit. This video is on there and it is awesome.

Sequence of Spinner's 720 whip.

This is a very long rail. Hopefully the entire video involves Star Wars characters.

I've always known I hated "street wear" despite my slight interest in it, but I never really knew why until I saw this site. Coincidentally DefGrip seem to have found out about it on the same exact day I did.

I posted the free Etnies DVD which came with DIG a few months back a while ago, but recieved my one and only angry email telling me to take it down. They put that shit on their site though so in case you didn't catch it before, check it out now, here.

And finally just in case you haven't figured it out yet, I totally stole my new style from Nah Right aka the best hip hop blog ever. I highly reccomend bookmarking it.

I'M RIDING SPINNERS

Spinner won some contest. Although I am happy for him, I really wish he had kept his hair short. It's one thing to be a jew, it's another thing alltogether to be a jew with an afro.

"Mike Spinner was head, shoulders, and nappy afro above his competitors, however. His 540 tailwhip, double tailwhip, and double turndown 720 would have sealed the win, but he put the final nail in the coffin with a tailwhip 720, a trick never landed before in competition, amateur or otherwise. The pros watching on the sidelines cheered Mike on after a botched attempt, and let loose when he pulled it clean. There were rumors floating around before the comp that it was going to go down, so everyone was psyched to see it happen. “I landed my first 720 whip maybe a month ago,” said Mike after the contest. “It’s pretty scary, and I’ve never done it on a box this big. That was the fourth one I’ve rolled away from.”

Random Stuff.

Villiani rules. I don't know if I've ever seen a backwards manual to 540 cab before, but if I have it definetly didn't look as good as that one.

This kid rules.

Ryan Metro is off Metal and on United.

Attila Bikes video preview. Devin from Peg Leg ( interview coming up in the zine ) rides for them.

This kid is fucking ten.

George and Max from Boston stayed with me for a few days but I didn't go riding with them because I have a girl from Chicago staying with me. They said they'll have a video up of some of their footage for me soon though.

It's insane how high the rails some kids are doing these days are.

Did you know that this site gets over 500 hits a day? Because I sure as fuck didn't think it would be that high. I definetly appreciate it though.

Big James.

Big James is ridiculous. Stolen from the FIT site, taken by N.E.R.

NEWS 8/15/06

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Crazy picture of Mike Hoder I found on the Woozy site. Their site is definetly bookmark worthy.

The dudes over at Degrip were cool enough to throw up a link to my site. One love to those guys, they really inspire me to make this site better.

I had a nice talk with Jeff K ( or as I prefer to call him, the dude who rode down that kinked rail in Shook ) who I'm interviewing last night. His new video has a Myspace allready up for it. He doesn't know what it's going to be called yet but check out the list of riders he told me are going to be in it: "Lil Jon, Jeff Wescott/Grant Castaluzzo, Eric Holley/Nick Anderson, Tony Neyer, Karl Poynter, Dominic Trovato, Mike Hinkens, Anthony Villani/Steve-O, Tony Maloof, Quinn Semling, Richard Mungall, Dave Friemuth." And that's just the full parts, not the random clips. Nuts.

Jeff also helps run Mid West BMX, which is a really good site with a ton of videos, none of which I am able to watch right now because YouTube is down.

Fakie to fakie barspin up a 3 stair to fakie turndown down a 3 stair. I wish I could figure out how to directly link to stuff from bmxonline. It's listed under August 15th.

Mo money.

BLACKMAN SNIPPIET

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I rolled through Brooklyn today and interviewed the infamous Blackman. Everyone knows Blackman as being some crazy dude who jumps off of big shit but I got to see a little bit more of the calm side of his personality. You gotta buy the zine if you want to see this rest of the interview, out soon.

A22: Pretty much when people think about Blackman, they think about you doing crazy shit like grinding a 15 stair flat rail on the cover of Ride. What made you want to do that? Is it because you just want to get your name out there or do you want to push yourself or do you want to make your sponsors happy?

I mean, I do it for me. Just to know I can do it. I do it because that's Black Man. I always wanted to do that ledge. That's my high school. I always used to get out of school and go look at the ledge. I just always wanted to do it. I ain't scared to do nothing like that. The person I like riding with most is Mike Hoder because me and Hoder ride the same, we both love jumping off of shit. I can ride with Hoder all day. Ralphie, Nigel... I can ride with anybody. Anyone I feel is doing something crazy, I'm with the same thing. I dunno man though, life is crazy. You break your neck, you break your fucking neck.

A22: You seem like you've been through a lot of shit lately. Like your perspective is changing on life and shit. Like maybe you've become more mature lately.

Yeah I mean, I'm about to become a grown man, I gotta do grown man things. I can't be fucking sleeping on the couch. Fucking robbing, stealing, I gotta make my own money. I can't be hustling. I'm about to finish high school. Hopefully.

A22: So what is this "no homo" shit all about? I think a lot of people outside of New York don't really understand that shit.

I mean "no homo"... a lot of niggas be saying gay shit so you just gotta say "pause". The real word is "grimey life" man. GRIMEY LIFE. Grimey life is the life I live.

A22: For someone who doesn't understand though, when is the proper time to say no homo?

Niggas with tight pants, they homos. I ain't really gonna say nothing but a lot of niggas might be like "blah blah, fuck blackman" and start crying and shit when I say you got tight pants on. I got tight pants friends. I got a lot of friends.

If you haven't yet, go add The Come Up on Myspace, I post bulletins whenever I update the site so you can know when to check back to see new shit.

AAAAAAAAANTE UP.

These kids are really good. Sort of low quality but definetly worth watching and it's probably YouTube's fault:

I think everyone assumed Mirra Co were going to be on some Haro shit but instead they came out with what may be the best complete bikes of all time. Click here.

Fuck you, your honor. Check my persona:

CRUMLISH

How did Crumlish get way better all of a sudden? This footage is so much better than everything else I've seen from him. That half cab over the wood thing was so awesome. Also I'm pretty sure Jim C is in there doing a gnarly wedge ride to gap barspin. Here's an excerpt from my upcoming interview with Charlie which will be in my print zine:

What is the status of the kickflip in 2006?

I think it's coming back, but if I see a kid on a pegless bike at the skatepark do a kickflip wearing a New Era hat, small shirt and girls pants, I might kill myself. I like the trick a lot though, I dunno why people are down on it... It's like a barspin with your feet.

How do you feel about the Godsmack song which plays on your brother's myspace? Don't you think that you might want to play a more active role in his life if he is so misled he is rocking out to Godsmack?

You have no idea. He insists he just likes the drummer, to which I told him that a lot of bands have good drummers and also good singers, guitar players, etc. I've gotten him off some worse shit though, one day my cousin took him to some rank hardcore show and I caught Bub listening to that band later on, he was like "Yo, their drummer is amazing!" and I pointed out how shitty everyone else in the band was... so back to Godsmack. He hates most of my music too so it's all good, I just want to get him to listen to more hip hop.

I would definetly not watch before 00:38 in this video if your parents are around. And even if you don't feel like watching the rest of it I would definetly reccomend you watch starting at 2:45 if you want a serious LOL.

I found Dave Mirra's part from Sentenced To Life on Youtube. Is that a Creed song?

Of course you could always just go here and download the whole thing.

Video Update 8/10/06

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

If you live anywhere near this, definetly go by and donate or something. Brace is a great kid and I think it's rad that they're doing this. If you can't make it and want to donate, email or myspace me and I'll make sure it gets to the right place.

I really enjoyed this video of Dave and Brian that was posted on BMXBoard. Anyone know what song it is?

Check out this video of the Double Ditch Jam.

A bunch of guys from Canada had a memorial trail jam for their friend Tim Dasilva who passed away. Click here for the BMXBoard thread and check out the video.

This video is like 15 minutes of totally hardcore shit. Chris Wilson is a beast, make sure to watch the whole thing because his part is last and it's awesome.

THE COME UP ON MYSPACE

Add The Come Up on Myspace HERE.

And while you're at it, check out BMXFEED. It keeps track of all the updates on a ton of different BMX sites and makes it really easy to check out what's new in the online riding world.

LET IT BE KNOWN.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Spinner getting some love on the Ride site. That shit is nothing to him, but it's an ill photo.

I'm swagger jacking the Ride site a lot lately, but they have a dope Nigel interview up.

Joel Moody posted a new preview for the Empire Video. Chase Hawk is disturbed.

New preview for the NSF video. I've never seen any of their videos but that shit looks pretty dope and very Voices-esque, which rules. Check this one out too:

A little filler but definetly some insane shit in there. Search for "nsf bmx" ( or just click here ) and there are a bunch of other videos on there worth watching too.

I'm working HARD putting this zine together but I think you guys will be real happy when it's out. Myspace coming soon too to keep you updated. Balls deep.

Redbull Mean Streets / Killa Season

Redbull Mean Streets

This has obviously been online for forever and a day, but that was before this blog existed. I still totally love this video.

I assume a lot of you aren't "in the know" enough to know that you MUST see the Cam'ron movie, Killa Season. Well if you're too broke to buy it, here it is:

New Peg Leg crash section.

Large Video Update

My buddy Matty jumping a sick rail gap down the street from my apartment.

NASTY is on S&M. I've never given a shit about dirt jumping but I've always been stoked on that guy's riding.

Nigel is riding for Mirra Co. It must be insane having Dave Mirra think you're good enough to ride for him, but the kid deserves it if you ask me.

The music is annoying and the quality isn't great, but the Second Grenade video looks like it's going to be pretty good. 720 tailtap to barspin on a sub box??

Gary Young in Drop The Hammer ( it has some gay ass ad for 10 seconds first ):

FBM North East Road trip:

Is Adam22 doing a print version of this blog? Yes I am haters. Hot interviews with The Gonz, Blackman, Tom White, the Peg Leg crew and more... I'll make sure to keep you all updated. Don't sleep.

HODER

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Mike Hoder makes everyone else look stupid. Imagine if he crashed doing this? Jeeeeeez.
